Hubby and I have been sick for he past couple days with  Kidlet's cold #32564. How is it that the little ones get sick and are up the next day just as chirpy as ever, and grownups end up snorting snot and dragging asses for a week? So unfair.  Anyway, I should finally have my art computer back today.  That is, if Hubby can get out of bed after staying up most of the night snorting snot.

I plowed through most of Metalocalypse, but didn't quite finish.  It was beginning to feel like homework. So much dark humor at once is not good for my system! I did not hate it. It was very well done, and the music was not as bad as I feared.  You have to realize I mostly listen to harmless stuff like McKennet and Enya. Metal is rather...different. Charles is my favorite character, hands down.  I do think I probably would never have gotten into the fandom at all without the Magic Rat. But then, she is a bad influence like that.

By the way, Kidlet was not too impressed with the Metal boys. His comments after watching one snippet,"Why are those people embarrassing themselves like that?" "How come they don't like their families?" Ah, just wait until you hit the teen years, Kidlet.

I will pick back up with Metalocalypse after I go through some more of the Christmas stack of movies. So far I have seen "Up," (breathtakingly gorgeous), "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,"(mostly meh, with some cool shots), an old movie called "Bill and Coo" featuring a cast of trained little birdies, and re-watched "GI Joe"(improbable, but lots of eye candy). I still want to watch "Coraline," "9" and rewatch "Star Trek" to oogle Spock's perfect complexion. Being sick and unable to do much does become more pleasent with new movies and books.

PS I just came back from feeding the wild turkeys.  Sam I Am literally hid behind my skirt as I was tossing corn at those scary, scary birds. He would peek out once in a while, then hide his head again...never minding that the rest of his big fluffy orange self was quite visible. XD

Post holiday rambling

Actually it is still a holiday over at my house, since Kidlet's birthday is today.  He got an embarrassing amount of stuff already, plus cash for all the games he wants to buy for the DS Lite. Hubby and I just got him a couple small things each...we hold off because we know he will get buried with tons of gifts from relatives.

Hope you all had a nice holiday!  It was just the three of us again.  I did a small turkey and smaller portions of the sides so we would not be eating leftovers for a month.  It struck me as Hubby was carving the turkey, that back when we first got married I had no clue how to cook. I did not even know how to cook spaghetti. Yesterday I cooked a perfect garlic and bacon seasoned turkey without even looking up a recipe. I have come a long way!

One of the things I got for Xmas was the first 2 seasons of Metalocalypse. I watched 3 episodes so far.  Here are my first impressions:
1.Did I just see what I thought I saw? (small animals! Dismembered!!! Erkh!!!)
2. I need to quit sending portfolios to Titmouse because my chances of getting on a show like this is similar to Murderface getting a job at the Build-a-Bear store.
3. Dude, those boys are so totally gay. XD

Have a great holiday folks, no matter what you celebrate! I can't finish any new pics without the art computer, but here is the large version of the little icons on Magic Rat's Advent calendar.  Going up a day early since tomorrow I will be busy trying to decipher instructions on Kidlet's new toys...

Computer issues

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 8:37 AM
It's my turn!  *sigh* It just seems like every time I HAVE time the art computer goes away...we are upgrading to Windows7. Initially the shop said overnight, but now it looks like I will not be getting the computer back for a week or so. This means I can't finish Rattie's Christmas pic in time, arghhh.  I promise to get it done ASAP as soon as the computer is back.

At least I have the old laptop. It is super slow and has a tendency to crash frequently, but I can still check email and comments. I shall catch up with everything eventually!

edit: Thank you very much for the card, M C from Georgia, but I have no idea who you are online because you used your real name...XD  Thank you for the cookies, [info]rina_riku , it all arrived in perfect shape! Now to fend the boys off long enough for me to sample some.

so the time since thanksgiving has blown by rather fast. so fast, in fact, that some events ofthe past week have blended together in no coherent order.

some highlights have been:

~hanging out with Sado and Gabe
~discovering industrial music and the joys of combichrist
~ visiting the cerritos mall (aka PUPPIES)
~ swapmeet shopping for contacts (and finding them)
~ video game nights at joey's( L4D is the shit)
~ Downtown Disney fireworks and half-blind jessa with a red eye contact
~seeing Princess and the Frog with Nicki,Lisi, and Sado
~grocery shopping at a 99 cent store
~ Lisi's house and the piosonous pancakes

yeah, sado popped my contact cherry XD. maili helped me take it out. my first contacts were red, and so were theirs. :3 it was a wonderful night.

and now my birthday has come and gone, and i'd say it was THE BEST FUKKEN WEEKEND EVER. i love going to disneyland, i really do, but this time it was just fantastic. the people that i brought all got along, they kept me entertained, and i love all of them, so it was just amazing. plus it was christmastime, so disneyland was decorated all nice. <3 <3 <3

there were 11 of us:
Me
Larissa
Leuleu
Sado
Bear
Taylor
Tressie
Eugene
Rachel
James
Remy

AND I FUKKEN LOVE ALL OF YOU.

anyway, even though disneyland is supposedly an evil corproation that discriminates against cosplay and stitchsmiles, there were alot of cool things to do.eugene made foods and we devoured it in the little secret picnic area.(you can only find it if you already know where it is) we ate turkey legs and ice cream. i got randomly hugged by a little boy. <3 i randomly got a splinter and had to get it surgically removed with help from tressie's awesome kit thingy, taylors light thingy, and a safety pin. we exchanged bites in the line for Haunted mansion (mine's still there) and took ADORABLE pics of TayxTressie. >3< Leu leu and i got caught having fun in the ride XD and apparently space mountain is speed X2 at 12am. the ride home was amusing due to a slightly ranting sado and a near-death experience due to randomly stopped cars. <3 don worry, i still lu. XD LETS DO IT AGIAN SOMETIME.

IT WAS BETTER THAN CAKE.

theres alot of random details of stuff that i know i am forgetting XD

also. i got the best present EVER.

a Nissan Pathfinder, and its ALL MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<3 <3 <3

my godmother is awesome. <3

I finished the work due today at 9:30 PM last night. Then stayed up until 2 AM watching the files upload ever so sloooowly to the client's Digi-Delivery site. Argh. Of course, I was up at 7 AM anyway since I am a crazy morning person. Not to mention the dog wanted to go out, and the wild turkeys were out too which means the dog needs to be on a leash if we ever want to see him again(rolls eyes).  Major hunting instinct, plus unfenced woods, plus brain the size of a  walnut. We are fond of Chance but he will not be running free to chase after wild turkeys. XD  Anyway, dead, tired, will catch up with everyone later. There are many new fics to go through, yay!

Also, thank you [info]calvi_sama , your package made me very happy!I Also got the Christmas letter from [info]tgrcats_tail (I think...Cat with the 3 kitties?)!! Hubby was very impressed that your kitties could be dressed up. You mentioned going to Idaho. Is there an SCA event over there? That is drivable distance from my place...heck, my bank is in Idaho, 40 minutes away.

I am taking a break from the endless storyboard panels.

Not too much snow yet, but the wild turkeys are back! We feed them during the winter months.

[info]aylah , [info]lauand , [info]angelstar3999 , for cards, and White Jenna, Sphinx, Icy and Misu for the shirt! Going out to the mailbox is rather exciting nowadays. I need to do this card exchange thing again next year!

I also managed to track down Hasbro studio, which is still keeping things very hush-hush. Gotta love my industry contacts...I managed to get my portfolio to a production manager over there and I will keep my fingers crossed. I would put my chances at 15% at this point because they want in-house people and my portfolio is rather lacking in the giant alien robots department. Wish me luck!

so i finally got my red Prussia contacts, and am currently on a hunt or a decent wig. good luck to me.

the past few days have been very interesting. i met a new friend, and i must say that for all his craziness, gothy, nearlyimpossibletodescribe-ness, i have had an immense amount of fun. and have rediscovered the joy of biting. thanks, gavin. <3

ANYWAY.

birthday coming up. im going to DISNEYLAND! YAY! it will be awesome.

Still here!

But buried in RL work...deadline is Tuesday but I have to keep moving to meet the schedule. 75 storyboard pages left to do in 5 days! 2 panels per page, so that is 150 panels. This is usually no problem since I have been known to burn through 100 + panels a day, but this section is a computer animated song and dance sequence in the middle of a busy city. *head desk*  I spent an hour last night on one panel that looked quite suitable for "Where is Waldo".  3D computer camera means that I can't reuse most backgrounds, and since they gave me one city BG design for a 10 minute section I am designing as I go.  On the bright side, I am learning how to draw cars finally, and this should make a nice bit to stick in my portfolio! I have a 2 week break over the holidays, so I will definitely be finishing up that pic for Magic rat. Have a nice weekend everyone, I will catch up on Tuesday afternoon!

Happy birthday to Maldy, and thank you for the cards and gifts, [info]mirien , [info]dana_norram [info]misumisu84 , [info]spiderlove , and sunstroke art!

PS  I am hearing rumors of a Hasbro animation studio setting up, to do GI Joe and Transformers. I am poking everyone to see if I can get more info on them. If I can get on Transformers, I will be the hero of third grade....is it bad to base your career aspirations on what will impress your kids? XD
